Klondike Solitaire is the most common version of Solitaire. It is the version that comes with many computer operating systems and is the game most people think of when they hear the word Solitaire.
Goal of Klondike Solitaire
The goal of Klondike Solitaire is to move all the cards to the four foundation piles. Each foundation pile must be built by suit in order from Ace to King.
The Tableau
Klondike Solitaire uses seven piles in the tableau. The first pile has one card, the second pile has two cards, and so on until the seventh pile has seven cards. Only the top card in each pile is face up.
Building in the Tableau
Cards in the tableau must be placed:
In descending order
Alternating colors (red on black, black on red)
For example:
You can place a black 9 on a red 10.
You can place a red 7 on a black 8.
Empty Spaces
If a tableau pile becomes empty, only a King can be placed in that space.
Foundation Piles
The foundation piles are built by suit in this order:
